Cox Dead Last in Ames Straw Poll

A measly 41 votes went to fringe presidential candidate John Cox in today's Ames Straw Poll, the real test of strength in the 2008 race. Everyone (except these deluded 41 people) now understands that this guy is a fraud and a poeser, and needs to go home to Chicago and leave the people of Iowa (and New Hampshire and South Carolina) ALONE.

Mitt Romney 4516 31.5%
Mike Huckabee 2587 18.1%
Sam Brownback 2192 15.3%
Tom Tancredo 1961 13.7%
Ron Paul 1305 9.1%
Tommy Thompson 1039 7.3%
Fred Thompson 203 1.4%
Rudy Giuliani 183 1.3%
Duncan Hunter 174 1.2%
John McCain 101 1.0%
John Cox 41 0.1%

This is exactly as expected. Let's hope he gets the message.

Time to pack it in, Cox. He's done.

I am not a Cox supporter but hey, he was on the ballot. He is willing to put in the effort and I say he is trying to offer one more choice to the American voter and there is nothing wrong with that. Further, he is willing to state a position on the Second Amendment that seems much stronger than those offered so far by Rudy McRomney.

What a smally petty man you are. Attacking a good man like John Cox in this manner fills me full of putrid sickness and simmering rage.

Thane, I really don't care if this obscure Chicago lawyer has a WONDERFUL view on the Second Amendment. He is simply not a real candidate. Period. Any more than my grocer is, or my dentist.

And even you could probably raise more than $13,000 for a local race in your hometown, yet this guy has barely reached that barrier after 17 months of non-stop campaigning.

His staff (and legions of former staff, tell me he is politically ignorant, and won't take advice from those who have actually done serious grassroots before.

In short, the guy is a lost cause.

Raptor, get hold of yourself. And go fix your Website. It's giving people seizures.

I was impressed that the Iowa GOP included Mr. Cox in the big Straw Poll - kudos to them.

Without endorsing any candidate, I wanted to say [being in the audience] that I thought Mr. Cox gave an excellent speech, and presented himself well.

If it wasn't so sad, this would be funny.

No, never mind. This is truly funny.

Aakash: Cox is the worst, most bombastic speaker in the nation right now. I think he should win an award just for that.

One must think that Cox bribed someone to be on that ballot (Just joking. Maybe.) He paid $25,000 to be on the South Carolina primary ballot, so nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
